Recently I heard from my friend that...Supreme Court is going to legitimate the offspring of live in relationship couples. My friend strongly opposed this development. Let see what will be outcome if Supreme Court legitimizes it.
live-in relationship is as simple as it's name "LIVE....in "relation where both boy and girl come together...spend some wonderful time of their life(they feel it that way) and when they feel that things are not working well....they go thier own way. Meanwhile these fancy couples give birth to children which are illegitimate at present as per law. By ligetimising, these children will get a meaningful life which they deserve. They will live normal life like other children. Moreover couples who are into live in relationship can have their children.
Many people are of the view that if such amendment is made in the law then marriages will become secondary thing. I feel exactly opposite; if such amendment is accepted then many people would get into live-in relationship openly. There will be no social binding on them to get married. In short, there will be no pre-marital affairs and extra-marital affairs since these people will not get married unless and until they feel themselves to do so. As result, marriage would become more sacred relationship then ever. In fact, once live-in relationship couples gain confidence in their relationship and believe that it could stay for long time of their life then the same couples would long for married life.
This amendment has macro effect as well. Our society still is not open for such kind of development. I am sure there would be strong opposition from across the country; it would be touted as by product of western culture and Indian culture would get ruined if this kind of thing is allowed. But for me the culture which has no boundaries and open for all kind of thoughts and practices of the world is the best culture. I am sure once this amendment is made and well accepted by whole society then we would really show to the world that we are growing economically as well as socially.

Hi Atul.....quite a controversial topic u hav taken here....i beg to differ with u.I dont think legitimising the kids is a solution to the whole problem of affairs.Though it wud really help the children.but dont u think this will give an open chance to people,to just go on making affairs and not thinkin about the girl and kid.If this becomes a law evryone wud go on doin this increasin the number of unhappy children who will not hav a gud life and they will also go abt continuing the legacy of their parents. Its not about Indian culture tht we r talkin abt.Its abt life of the comin generation and da kind of environment tht we want to create for them.We shud work to make this world a better place to live where people shud undrstand abt LOVE,not make fun of it by living with as many girls/guys and producin kids leadin to huge population of dissatisfied and unfaithful souls.......wat say????
well atul, nice topic..i somewhat agree on your point on live in relation .....its like after spending time with each other, the couples come to know whether they r meant for each other and can happily carryon their life...the main advantage which i see is that, the number of divorce cases in india will decrease considerably, which will rob some our lawyer of good source of income :) ....but coming on the serious part..yes it does reduce d trauma of attending court hearings for divorce..
but by legitimising the kids...you are dragging the couples back into the same procedure of court and stuff, where now they ll fight for who will take possession of the child and who will pay for their maintenance....so i really don't see any change at least in the legal proceeding part...its just the lawyers will now take a different stance
hi...tacid mind.....the thing is....any child that comes into this world is a legimate child. He has all the rights as a citizen of india as any other child born in wedlock...infact supreme court should have done thiss long back....
The problem is that a child not only needs rights...but also a family....as far as live in relationship goes ...it fine when two individuals want to spend some part of their time together...but when it comes to having children its a totally different ball game.
Any growing up child needs a family....if we are not able to provide that...then theres no point legitimising...or giving rights...yes it will help to some extend....but it will not compensate for the love a child receives in a family...hence we need to change our mindset....and not just blindly follow west....
