Understanding the situation.....

A sigh of relief for medical fraternity as Maharashtra Government gave its ‘in principle’ approval for a policy to protect medical personnel from attacks. Soon it will be a part of legislation.

This is very interesting in a way, as there was a time when the same medical fraternity being revered by whole society at large. The doctors were considered as next to the god for their ability to save lives of people even in remote chances. Some physician used to give free medical treatments to poor people.

In recent past, there has been a sea change in the medical field. A lot of advancements have been experienced in medicines and medical equipments. However, these advanced treatments come with hefty premiums thereby making it dearer for patients and could be benefited to only small strata of society (affluent people). In short, medical field is rampantly getting commercialised. Moreover, poor medical infrastructure is taking its tolls on govt. hospital and adding owes to doctors’ burden in treating patients properly.

As a result, time and again we see vandalism taking place at the hospitals and hospital workers and doctors being brutally attacked by mob. At times doctors being paraded on streets with blacken faces. In September alone, we had been reported five such instances across India.

If little more time is dwelled in understanding the reasons for occurrence of such instances in the last month. The reasons are like equipment left behind in patient’s body, wrong medication, not listening to patient’s relatives concern and so on. To cite an example , in today’s TOI newspaper published that a loud inauguration ceremony was held on Tuesday at the state run hospital for newly installed CT scan machine in hospital premises. Ideally hospitals premises should be a “silent zone”, on the contrary, crackers were burst, a band was allowed to play drums and loud speakers were used for political speeches. Hence, a complete ignorance of the needs of hospitalised patients by hospital workers. Such is the state of our current health care system.

In recent development, medical fraternity went on a strike for a day for protesting violence happening against them from society and seeking a comprehensive policy from government in providing a protection to medical fraternity. In response, government has given its approval for a bill to protect medical personnel. But this bill is unlikely to change the trend. Violence is bound to happen if we continue with present health care system which deteriorating day by day. The need of the hour is to have proper structure in place for health care system, reducing commercialization of medical services thereby reaching larger part of society. This should be done immediately to restore faith in our health care system.

"LIVE...in" relationship

Recently I heard from my friend that...Supreme Court is going to legitimate the offspring of live in relationship couples. My friend strongly opposed this development. Let see what will be outcome if Supreme Court legitimizes it.
live-in relationship is as simple as it's name "LIVE....in "relation where both boy and girl come together...spend some wonderful time of their life(they feel it that way) and when they feel that things are not working well....they go thier own way. Meanwhile these fancy couples give birth to children which are illegitimate at present as per law. By ligetimising, these children will get a meaningful life which they deserve. They will live normal life like other children. Moreover couples who are into live in relationship can have their children.
Many people are of the view that if such amendment is made in the law then marriages will become secondary thing. I feel exactly opposite; if such amendment is accepted then many people would get into live-in relationship openly. There will be no social binding on them to get married. In short, there will be no pre-marital affairs and extra-marital affairs since these people will not get married unless and until they feel themselves to do so. As result, marriage would become more sacred relationship then ever. In fact, once live-in relationship couples gain confidence in their relationship and believe that it could stay for long time of their life then the same couples would long for married life.

This amendment has macro effect as well. Our society still is not open for such kind of development. I am sure there would be strong opposition from across the country; it would be touted as by product of western culture and Indian culture would get ruined if this kind of thing is allowed. But for me the culture which has no boundaries and open for all kind of thoughts and practices of the world is the best culture. I am sure once this amendment is made and well accepted by whole society then we would really show to the world that we are growing economically as well as socially.
